Promo Doc Writing Enablement Website
The Problem
Promotion at Amazon was running almost entirely on tribal knowledge. No central guidance, no shared standards — which meant outcomes varied wildly depending on who you knew and what org you were in. I set out to fix that.
What I Did
I ran 10 focus group sessions with a representative mix of novice and experienced managers and employees to surface where the process was breaking down and what actually worked. I reviewed hundreds of promotion documents to identify best examples. I took a business writing course to become my own subject matter expert. From all of that, I developed standards and a comprehensive suite of resources — training, reference guides, and a promotion philosophy video that articulated, for the first time, what Amazon actually believed good promotion looked like.
The centerpiece was a responsive, fully accessible training website with dynamic translation across 12 languages.
The Result
I didn't track impact as rigorously as I would now, but the qualitative signal was strong — and a later survey of ~1,400+ users showed the training and reference materials rated 85–98% useful across all modules.
This project had a lot of facets I haven't fully documented here. Happy to walk through it — reach out.
